Execution failed with the error code 1

When trying to update R or any other software via installr (using R GUI instead of RStudio as recommended by the package).

In shell(install_cmd, wait = wait, ...) :
  the execution of 'C:\Users\*Username*\AppData\LocalTemp\RtmpgNobPJ/R-4.2.2-win.exe' failed with the error code 1

I simply used UpdateR() and clicked yes.

What should be done to fix it ?

Could you try running your R as an admin?

It seems the issue is fixed, because I noticed that trying to launch the command prompt would not work. After fixing it using this guide by deleting AutoRun, everything now works. I am quite puzzled to how my setup got messed up like that.
