[Bug] Android system bar overlaps UI

Environment

• OS: Android 12 (Samsung One UI 4.1)
• Device: Samsung Galaxy A02s
• App Version: v1.0-alpha4-dev
• Additional Information: None

Description

When opening the app, the status bar overlaps the buttons on VectorTouch' top bar.

This is only solved by making Android request a resize of the app (ex: minimizing the app and tabbing back in)

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open the app

Expected Behavior

The top status bar should not overlap VectorTouch' status bar.

I'm willing to test whenever new commits/releases fix it if pinged as I don't think this is a common issue?

However, I can't build the app myself otherwise I would've just made a PR to fix it, as I can't be bothered to set up Android Studio and my phone doesn't support wireless ADB so it'd be a nightmare to work with.

Thanks for the report!
It looks like it's in edge-to-edge mode and this might be a Godot issue, but I also maintain the Android port for Godot 😄

@Alex2782 I manually updated the version in this report to that to reflect that it's from the latest build. You can download it from last CI run, I haven't made a release for it on github. FlooferLand is using the apk from closed testing on Playstore.

Everything looks fine on the Samsung Tab S7 tablet (Android 13). In landscape mode, the status bar is hidden; in portrait mode, it's visible but doesn't cover the UI.

Thanks for testing! This might be a initialization quirk then. It seems similar to this issue godotengine/godot#97351

And to clarify: the hidden status bar in landscape is intentional, I added logic for this specifically in this project.

I was able to reproduce it now, first align my tablet in portrait mode, then start the app, then the UI is overlapped

Which project/export settings are necessary?

Not reproducible with this config (default 2d project, 4.5-beta4)
Status bar is always there and is black (another error)

These two are necessary. I don't think orientation and gradle build can cause this behaviour.

Test with #67 once apk is built. I have disabled both of the custom window handling logic.

So #67 resolved the issue for you? Then it seems like set_system_bar_color is the culprit here. Thanks a lot for testing!

I’ll dig deeper into it, but I’m relieved it’s not a godot-side issue. Fortunately, PR to change the window color at export is already merged, so I should be able to remove this method after Godot 4.5 beta 5.
