Get rid of string typing for `Field`

In several places, '_VAR' is used as a filter. Clearly Field needs better properties. Maybe something like a namespace full of some standard type.

Can also use this to denecessitate the fieldName function eventually.

Maybe can even include grouping properties on these and so get rid of field groups?
