Messages can be replied to several times at once

What happened?

When tapping and holding a message and selecting Reply, the banner at the bottom showing that you're replying to a message shows up, as expected. However, if you proceed to select this option on the same message again, another reply banner shows up. This seems to be infinitely repeatable.

This is also the case in the web app and the desktop app. This seems more like a feature than a bug.

replying seems to work as expected on desktop and web for me, only one reply banner shows up no matter how many times i click reply

Has this already been fixed in the master branch? It happens on my phone, but when running it from master through Android studio I don't experience the bug. After looking more into it, the latest playstore SHOULD use the same version as on here so I'm not sure why the bug doesn't appear in my testing.

Not a bug. It's a feature. It goes up to five replies, afaIk.

As for this — lack of personal anecdote doesn't mean it's a useless feature. There are people, such as me, who do genuinely find the feature useful. If you're having a conversation with multiple people, you can respond to each of their messages specifically without having to make multiple messages or explicitly pinging them. I've had situations in the past where I did need to respond to multiple messages, but couldn't, so I had to opt for a single reply and a ping or two. I've also used it a few times on Stoat to ensure that there was proper context to my message.

oh i see now, yeah, being able to reply to multiple messages at once does seem useful. it might be worth preventing multiple replies to the same message being queued at once if possible though

Looking at the web / desktop app the expected behavior seems to allow multiple replies as you said, but it blocks multiple referencing the same message. It also limits it to 5 which the app doesn't. I still don't see why when I build the app it doesn't allow multiple replies at all though unless it's some debug when building.

Might need a build flag or something like that. Have you taken a look at the documentation for building?
