Description
Description:
When closing the Standard Notes app on Android using the system gesture (swiping from the edge of the screen towards the center), the exit animation is not smooth. Instead of a gradual transition back to the home screen (like most other apps provide), the screen flashes briefly (white or black flash) and immediately jumps to the desktop. This makes the app feel less polished compared to apps like Google Keep, Notion, or Signal, which have proper predictive back / app-closing animations.
This happens consistently when using Android's gesture navigation.
Environment:
Device: [Honor 90]
Android Version: [Android 15]
Standard Notes Version: [v3.201.8(3005195)]
Navigation Mode: Gesture navigation (fully enabled, no 3-button nav)
Other relevant settings:
Dark/Light theme: [Light]
Any active extensions or custom themes? [No]
Steps to Reproduce
Open Standard Notes app.
Make sure you're on any note or the notes list screen.
Swipe from the left or right edge of the screen inward (standard Android gesture to go back / close app).
Observe the animation when the app is about to close / minimize.
Expected Behavior
A smooth, animated transition: the app should shrink/scale back or fade out gradually into the home screen, similar to native Android apps or other well-optimized third-party apps.
Actual Behavior
Brief flash (screen goes white/black for a split second), then instantly jumps to the home screen with no transition animation. Feels abrupt and janky.
Additional Information
This issue occurs every time I use the gesture to close the app.
No crash or error logs appear (it's purely a visual/animation glitch).
I attached a short screen recording (~5-10 seconds) demonstrating the issue if helpful.

Possible Related Factors:
May be related to how the app handles window animations or predictive back gesture (Android 13+ feature).
Does not seem to affect the back button (software 3-button navigation) as severely.
Thanks for maintaining Standard Notes! Looking forward to a smoother experience.
