NUTS aggregation percentual to the area inside the region

If a grid point lies partially within two NUTS regions, weigh the value of this grid point percentual with the area inside the region. R has a keyword for this, how is it handled in Geopandas, does it take into account splitting of grid parcels?

also do not allow sum within the NUTS region, this may lead to confusion, should always be some sort of average

isimib data is model projection data -> a is in the past, b is in the future
also counterfactual data, so without climate change

As far as I know, geopandas does not support fractional area weights by default. To spatial join two GeoDataFrames, we have sjoin and sjoin_nearest.

exactextractr is used in R for NUTS aggregation so far.
