Solr cannot find schema

After I used the archetype, built the dev profile, and ran it, Solr cannot find the schema. I get this error if I try to view the schema in the admin GUI:
Can not find: schema.xml [...solr-standalone-1.0-SNAPSHOT-master-dev\solr\conf\schema.xml]

There's no such directory, solr\conf. Schema.xml is located in WEB-INF\classes.

from which location you ran it? did you decompressed the tar.gz/zip? that are the only valid solr distribution built ATM... TIA

i forked the project version 2.0-SNAPSHOT, updated the dependencies for solr to 3.6.2, solrj, tomcat to 6.0.36, etc. i have the same issue mentioned here. the problem is that solr hardcodes a directory "conf" as a placeholder for the configurations files. after unpacking the solr-standalone-1.0-SNAPSHOT-master-dev there isn't a conf directory. the files are inside WEB-INF and inside ROOT. however when i unpack solr-standalone-1.0-SNAPSHOT-master-resources-dev, i find the conf directory required. changing the solr.solr.home property to point to ...resources-dev directory enables solr to function. i think that the solution would be to packaged those files inside a conf directory inside ROOT.war. tell me what you think? thank you in advance.
