image uploads

Yes, the scheme to upload images based on filenames is a bit flawed. That's why we have introduced a couple of other methods to upload images and associate them with the correct observation units and traits.
One method uses information embedded in the actual image to make the association. The fieldbook app currently adds that information to the image. Every image has an exif record in which image metadata is stored and this feature uses this exif record.
The other method is to include a barcode on the actual image, e.g, when you take the image. Breedbase can parse the barcode for associationt with an observation unit.
A third option is to prepare an Excel file with the image names and the metadata. I think this can be uploaded from the image upload function.
Let me know if you have any questions...
Cheers
Lukas

Subject: [solgenomics/sgn] image uploads (Discussion #5777)
It doesn't look like anyone uses discussions but hopefully someone sees this.
I can't upload images because my observationunitname contains underscores due to having plant entries. When you add plant entries in breedbase, it automatically includes an underscore, eg plant_1. When uploading images, the observationunitname can't have any underscores. The only underscores allowed are the ones used in separating each value, observationUnitName, traitname, number, timestamp.
Is there any way to get around this?
Thanks!
