Hi guys, what's the rationale? I've noticed that libalpm has gotten way faster, but it still seems to be slow enough on a large system with many packages to warrant a cache in Paktahn.

I'm not convinced the added complexity and regular pauses for us to regenerate the cache outweigh the performance benefits but I'll be happy to run benchmarks to ensure that's the case before merging in whatever is cooked up.

I agree that the additional waiting time for the cache to refresh is another factor.

I'd love to see benchmarks. :)
