showing topography on the finished map would be an additional information to help navigating. there are similar products like cadmapper showing the different heights on map. i like your maps way better only the heightprofile would be a nice gimmick.

This would be nice, but as you said, a bit of a gimmick. I haven't hard a visually impaired person request this so far -- their focus tends to be on clarity solely.
