Extension seems to stop in the background

Coming back to Safari after leaving for a while, the exacerbation won’t work without refreshing.

A few points:
I’m on iOS 18.1 Beta 4
I usually use the “open in the background”
I have a lot of tabs

Looks like it’s more related to “open tab in the background” then anything else 🤔

It’s pretty consistent, when I open in the background, the extension dose not work, only a refresh helps

Thanks for opening this issue! I was able to reproduce the behavior you described by following these steps:

1. Open a webpage with a link (e.g., Google search results).
2. Long press the link and select “Open in New Tab.”
3. The gestures on the newly opened tab don’t work until the page is refreshed.

Is this the same issue you’re experiencing? I’ll investigate further within a week or so when I get a chance.

That’s it! I’m pretty sure it’s something new since iOS 18, I’m opening links in the background a lot, and I have a feeling it started after I’ve updated.
