Progress

  • Completed the Phase A backend contract task to extend the meta chat workflow and request context with structured meta fields for goal, constraints, plan, response strategy, confidence, limitations, and context gaps.
  • Updated the planner/critic workflow pipeline and agent prompt wiring to produce and consume the new structured metadata instead of freeform plan and critique summary strings.
  • Added focused Vitest coverage for the structured contract shape and updated the chat route test fixture to match the new workflow result.
  • Verified the change with npm test -- app/api/chat/route.test.ts lib/chat/contracts.test.ts and npm run ts-check.
  • Implemented visible meta mode for assistant replies by attaching structured workflow metadata to streamed assistant messages and rendering a compact task-framing card with task type, goal, constraints summary, and a structured meta-pass indicator for meta-routed responses.
  • Added focused coverage for the visible meta mode UI in app/chat/_components/chat-message.test.tsx and e2e/chat.spec.ts.

  • Implemented the plan preview task by adding a compact, collapsed-by-default plan disclosure to meta-routed assistant messages that expands to show structured workflow steps without exposing raw internal prompts.
  • Added focused coverage for the plan preview behavior in app/chat/_components/chat-message.test.tsx and e2e/chat.spec.ts.
  • Implemented the confidence and limitation signals task by extending the meta summary card for meta-routed assistant messages with structured confidence badges, surfaced limitations, and explicit context-gap messaging from workflow metadata.
  • Added focused coverage for the trust-signal UI in app/chat/_components/chat-message.test.tsx and e2e/chat.spec.ts.

  • Implemented the structured feedback capture task by adding per-response feedback controls for assistant messages, a dedicated /api/chat/feedback endpoint, and persistent feedback event storage with thread ID, message ID, task type, feedback value, and server timestamp.
  • Added focused coverage for the feedback flow in app/api/chat/feedback/route.test.ts, app/chat/_components/chat-message.test.tsx, and e2e/chat.spec.ts.

  • Implemented the instrumentation and evaluation baseline task by adding persistent chat_events storage, a dedicated /api/chat/events endpoint, and chat lifecycle event emission for thread starts, message submission, task classification, meta-mode use, response completion, plan preview expansion, and feedback submission.
  • Added a baseline metrics calculator for meta-mode share, feedback positivity, response completion, average turns per successful thread, and plan-preview view rate, plus focused coverage in app/api/chat/route.test.ts, app/api/chat/events/route.test.ts, app/api/chat/feedback/route.test.ts, app/chat/_components/chat-message.test.tsx, lib/chat/contracts.test.ts, lib/chat/events.test.ts, and e2e/chat.spec.ts.

  • Added focused coverage for the onboarding experience in app/chat/_components/chat-message-list.test.tsx and e2e/chat.spec.ts.
