Hi Balint and Ben,

I have promised to look through all of this, and time is still very limited in these times.

However, I stumbled upon conduit which seems to do all, and more, of the things we really want to do. This seems to handle

• Efficient communication layer (using MPI)
• Has all nodes/leaves etc. implemented (no need to redesign everything)
• It looks relatively simple, no fancy stuff
• It allows json + hdf5 output

Have you seen this package before?

Hi Nick,

no, I was not aware of conduit. Having a quick look at it, it comes very-very close to what we would like to achieve. That means, I'll it give it a more detailed look, maybe we have already everything. That would be marvelous, thanks a lot for the tip!

Great, it does look like it does everything, and has c, fortran and python interfaces (which is great ;))

Thanks, again, that looks also very promising. We could use it as the lower layer for Saydx...
