Metadata for published

Is there any way to specify metadata for whether or not an article is published so it can be excluded during site generation?

e.g. If the following metadata were at the top of of post, it would not be included when you generate your site.

date: 2015-02-25
tags: ecstatic
published: false

I'm sorry, but right now there is no way to do this.

You can avoid having articles from appearing in the index and feeds if you put drafts into the pages directory. (This is a fairly hacky workaround.)
