Dealing with python modules installed by `pip`

For the modules installed by PIP, there is a better (straight-forward) way is to get the information directly from PIP's website:

https://pypi.org/project/<module_name>

However, pip also provides interface to quickly identify outdated packages:

$ pip list -o

Sample returned result:

PyInstaller (3.2) - Latest: 3.2.1 [sdist]

Manual search may not be necessary now?

However, the packages that are (and can be) managed by PIP should be excluded from our concerned (interesting) list.

This exclusion has been implemented in the commit: 79a4290

For the rest (packages exist in python modules directory but not managed by PIP), it's good to go with directly checking information on https://pypi.org/project/<package_name> site.

E.g.

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/brotli
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/bs4
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/bson
...

=> Check:
(https://pypi.org/project/brotli) => Brotli 0.6.0 (Apr 21, 2017)
(https://pypi.org/project/bs4) => bs4 0.0.1 (Mar 3, 2016)
(https://pypi.org/project/bson) => bson 0.4.7 (Apr 9, 2017)
