Issue linking GitHub repo in workbench

Running on Azure AKS with azurefile-csi storage class. When adding a GitHub repo get the error:

error: chmod on /home/user/R/repo/.git/config.lock failed: Operation not permitted
fatal: could not set 'core.filemode' to 'false'

@colearendt with all the chmod issues using this setup, is it feasible to expect fixes or should we switch to a different type of storage like an external/internal NFS mount?

Yeah, I think the azurefile-csi storage class has some issues with multi-tenant environments and seems not to play nicely with general linux utilities. My recommendation would be to bail. I believe Azure has a non-default "nfs"-based CSI that you can enable? That may be a better option - unfortunately, I am not super well-versed in Azure storage

I'm going to ask around over on the k8s slack and see if there is maybe an option that would let chmod work normally. Otherwise I'll try the NFS provider and report back on how to configure that for AKS.

We haven't gotten past the issue of not being able to upload files yet 👎 so I haven't submitted a case for this yet.

Hey @smokedlinq, we hope you were able to get your environment up and running in AKS! If not, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team. Looking forward, the Workbench team has work planned to develop and release a Reference Architecture. That will have recommendations for the best way to host Workbench in Azure AKS, but a little sneak peak I can give now is that we recommend Azure NetApp Files as the file system most compatible with Workbench in Azure.
