RSS category-based feeds

Hi! I'm having a problem with distill and RSS feed for certain categories. Based on this documentation: https://rstudio.github.io/distill/blog.html#rss-feed, I've included a categories option to the _site.yml:

rss:
  full_content: true
  categories:
    - category_1
    - category_2

However, no categories folder is created when I render the site (rmarkdown::render_site()). Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong?

Apparently, the "categories" folder is created when I render a new post. However, when I build the website (rmarkdown::render_site), this folder is being removed for some reason.
