compute node - "Error populating transaction, retrying (x/10)" - installation never finishes

Hello,

Trying to proof-of-concept GPU compute cluster for research. running front-end and attempting to setup compute node as two separate Virtual Box VM's on same host. set network as top boot priority. compute node fires up and detects network install. Advances automatically past the initial setup screen (automated), but after setting up partition, the progress bar hangs with message "Error populating transaction, retrying (9/10)". No further change after this. front-end is running 7.0 with 5x required-only rolls including centos updates. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
