Would this work with the Blend Micro?

I am trying to do some small notification devices, that just blink when notifications come in, and the small board would be great.

That is a great idea! I think it should work. It uses the same BLE chip as
the arduino shield. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes.

It works, just need to change the REQN/RDYN pins as specified in the data sheet http://redbearlab.com/blendmicro/

use:
Notif notif(6,7);
