Extract House Info

I would like to be able to reliably and consistently find a house number or name from an address, so that I could always find the correct address in a council pulldown list. I'd like it to be robust enough to handle a variety of user inputs.

I've attached it here as a text file. Please could it be included, so that I could use it as a common function?
