Not working on E330

I tried to run the pyhton script with "sudo pyhton ./tp-hdd-led.py"

The script seems to run, but nothing blinks.

Pyhton version: 3.4.1
Linux: Arch
Kernel: 3.16.3

I found out, that your method of flashing the leds is deprecated, but i don't have any success with the new method either.

"As of kernel 2.6.27 the thinkpad-acpi bay and dock drivers should no longer be used. Instead use the standard ACPI bay and dock drivers. As of kernel 2.6.31 the thinkpad-acpi bay and dock drivers have been removed completely."

/sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/leds/ should be used for newer kernels

I'm running this script on Arch Linux, latest kernel and it works fine, so I stopped my efforts to use the new method.

Will check this by time.

are you also running it on an E330?

Maybe i have to install some kernel modules, because i can not turn on or off the leds manual either

No, I run it on a E540.

could you send me the output of:

sudo cat /proc/acpi/ibm/led

i am currently on LMDE, but it has the same issues (kernel: 3.16)

status: supported
commands: on, off, blink ( is 0-15)

so it shoud actually work.
Could you please try running

echo "0 blink" > /proc/acpi/ibm/led

This has to be run as root. Your LED should blink now or you should get a message, explaining why not.

i get no output and both leds (on the lid and beyond the keyboard) are still on

Ok, when I'm doing this, my leds blink.
But when I'm doing this with other LED's (1-15) I either get a message, indicating that I'm using a unknown LED or nothin happens.
So it could be, that your LED has a different number (you could try this by testing different numbers), or is not accessible, like my other LEDs (e.g. on keyboard).

But I will try the new method to control the LEDs that evening. When getting this to work, I will send you a little Test Script...

i tried every led (0-15)
i get no response with: 0, 7 and 12, but no blinking leds
