Could the PLCC plug be through-hole mounted (instead of surface mounted) by first straightening the right-angled pins?
I'm asking because in my experience, inserting/removing a PCB with such a plug can sometimes be tricky and cause a lot of mechanical strain which in worst case scenario might even rip off some PCB traces. Through-hole soldering should make it more robust in my opinion.
