Can't hide tabs

There is no way to hide the tab bar. It always comes back at next terminal started. Also hiding the menu bar requires to pass a command line paramter, or else it too comes back. These just waste screen space when using a lot of terminals that need to be visible at once.

Are you using the menu to hide them? To make it permanent you have to edit your profile. Both of these options are in the "Appearance" section.

Yep, tried editing profile (tabs->hidden) and the tabs bar is still visible. only way to hide it is to disable "always show tabs" in view menu, and make sure only one tab exists per window.

How to disable tabs (and menu) completely??

There is another option in the Tabs section of the profile where you can change the position to Hidden.
But is the profile option to remove the menu bar not working? I've never heard of that not working before.

nope... tried all 3 (or 4?) places to hide tabs/menu bar even after rm -rf'ing my config... gonna be sticking with xfce4-terminal at least for now

If you change the profile options, do they work temporarily, but reset when you reload? And does it happen with all the options? Do you have the XDG_CONFIG_HOME and/or XDG_CONFIG_DIRS environment variables set? The default profile file should be saved in ${XDG_CONFIG_HOME}/roxterm.sourceforge.net/Profiles/Default. If XDG_CONFIG_HOME is unset it defaults to ${HOME}/.config/. Can you compare the timestamps on the profile file before and after changing some options, and also compare the content immediately after changing the settings and then after restarting roxterm?
