Query regarding the file size of "libut_control.so" in the latest VTS repository across all modules

It appears that the size of "libut_control.so" has significantly increased in the latest compilation compared to the build from two weeks ago. In both cases, the same ut-core branch (4.6.0) was used for all the modules.

Previous library size: ~3.5 MB
Current library size: ~15 MB

Is the current size (~15 MB) expected? Kindly confirm.

I tested on one of our dockers with arm environment. I see, ut-control library is about 15M in previous tag as well. This tag : 1.6.2 was created on Dec 18 2024.

Not sure, why is there a discrepency for you.

Thanks for confirming the size difference.
Could you please let us know the memory requirements in DUT for VTS test suites? for eg : how much memory required in the writable location to copy the test binaries and configuration fils ?

@vimalks22 - what's the problem your seeing here your trying to solve?

There's a few requirements for the VTS.

• VTS suites although called suites are a collection of component tests.
• On the target, the expectation is that only requirements to run the current test will exist on the target.
• Vendor Images are the platform to run the VTS testing under normal cases ( which has no upper layers ).
• Testing Suites are not part of the image binary ( they copied on demand to the platform ).
• DEBUG image will have overlayfs, short term /tmp is ok.

@Ulrond We do not have enough space in the writable location of Raspberry RDK device flashed with vendor image to copy VTS test binaries.

So, Raspberry RDK team is asking about the memory requirement in the device to run VTS ?

@vimalks22 - something wrong with the way that it's being copied, I'll reply to the ticket, something odd going on.

in the sub-ticket there's some exploration of idea's for size reduction.
