Hello there,

As far as I can tell, this project is no longer maintained and also targets a deprecated version of Python.

I currently feel the need to write a DTLS client (not necessarily a server) for personal use, and I was thinking about either working on this library or even starting a minimal client from scratch to get my hands dirty with OpenSSL.

I wanted to check whether there are still people in need of a DTLS client/server library in Python, in case I end up putting in extra work to make something more polished.

A Python 3 version has been available for some years at https://github.com/mobius-software-ltd/pyton3-dtls. Various enhancements to it have been requested over time, but few have been created, as far as I know. If you want to make improvements, that version of pydtls might be a good place to start. Another approach would be to work on a PR to Python 3's own ssl library.
