Help Needed

Hello,

I have a Bresser 5in1 meteo station.
I am interested in your solution.
However, I don't quite understand how to do it.
I have a Proxmox server with HAOS on it (VM).
Is it possible to create a VM to capture data from the weather station and send it back to Home Assistant?
What I understand is what to do in home assistant.
What I don't understand is how to use the pyton file and if I need to change the Host IP?
Which IP The weather station, or homeassistant?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello, Bonjour, Goedemiddag Jhack, The script should be able to run in a virtual machine that has python3 installed and port forwarding. The python script creates a web server which both the weather station and Home Assistant will call through HTTP GET requests. The weather station for sending data and HA for retrieving it. The python script needs no knowledge of either Home Assistant or the Weather stations' IP, but both the weather station and HA need to be configured to point to the IP and port of your virtual machine. Home Assistant will call the python script through a REST sensor which is configured via the yaml files in this repository. I hope that my message above answers your question and clarifies my setup. I did whats is mentionned, and got no errors. I'm using a RPI3B with bookworm64 installed.

Indeed I don't know on which IP & port I must point with my Bresser config app. Is the script running : 8000 as mentioned in the end of "/weatherlistener.py" : run(host='0.0.0.0', port='8000'

I have a Bresser 7in1, I can set IP and port, but, which IP, the one for my RPI on my network ?

And then I'd like to get data via nodered, I thought I could use a "http in" node, I put my RPI IP and 8000 port but I don't get anything.

Sorry for my very low understanding, I would really much appreciate any more detailed instructions.

Dear Thierry, If the script is running on your raspberry PI, you should indeed point to your Raspberry PI in your weather station and give its IP address. Then the Bresser Weather Station will send regular requests to the PI and update the data. You can then obtain this data through http://myraspberrypi:8000/data - From what little I know from NodeRED, you can use a "Simple GET Request", see https://cookbook.nodered.org/http/simple-get-request Hoping this helps !

Dear Thierry, Please replace "myraspberrypi" by the IP of the RPI where you are running my script. Once it is running, you should be able to open http://192.168.0.7:8000/data (for example) in your browser, and see either the data or "null" if no data has been captured yet. In the weather station's web interface, you should put again 192.168.0.7:8000 - if your weather station allows it (mine does). What I recommend you to do is to start the script manually before setting it up as a service - then you can see what happens. I guess I should document myself about venv, I thought It would copy the files in some virtual environment, does it ?
Maybe I did not clone appropriately ?

I've been looking for it a long time and I'd like to congratulate you as you have the lightest and smartest solution I saw. No pi-hole, no server install as far as I understood)

I'd be happy if you can answer my last questions to make it clean on my RPI.

For URL it should be http://[IP_HA]:8000, but for the other two? Just like in the picture? Any and no password?
