Logwatcher not detecting string. #57

Hello,
I have a logfile "/tmp/testfile.log"
I have set the config file newrelic_plugin.yml to
term: "ash"
The file contains around 11 lines all detailing individual names, purely to test this, although logwatcher is sending statistics back to new relic, not once has it found the string ash to generate a match.
what could I be doing wrong as I need to use this plugin desperately but cannot make any sense of it at present.
