Device monitor values not updated after ramps

After running ramps (e.g. for buffered measurements) the voltages in the device monitor are not updated. I presume that only cached values are used for monitor?

Solutions that come to my mind are either having a maximum time until cached values are updated or force an update of the cache after each qumada ramp or pulse.

Any opinions?
I considered doing the latter anyway to allow reliable usage of the cached values for some speedup in other parts of the software

I agree that the solution is to decrease the caches max_val_age to max_allowed_display_delta / ramp_rate.

I just changed the the max_val_age to the duration of the ramp, this should enforce an update when the ramp is finished. I think there is no point in setting it to lower values as trying to get a value while the ramp is running might not work for all instruments.

However, apparently QCoDeS doesn't check max_val_age properly when getting the cached values, although the max_val_age is properly set, the cache is not updated. I'll have to investigate further and contact the QCoDeS guys if necessary...

Do we maybe set get_if_invalid=False somewhere?

EDIT:

We do. The default is cache_only: bool = True. I did that so the monitor doesn't accidentally slow down the measurement. But I think it is better to leave the caching logic to the parameter itself. I will create a fix and push it to the branch.
