Pull back into Rake or merge newer versions of Rake in Drake? #4

Has there ever been a discussion about pulling Drake into Rake? Or, to merge newer versions of Rake with Drake?
I'm starting to use Drake at work in a production environment and am interested in the future of the project. I realize opening an issue/feature request about maintainability isn't necessarily the best means of communication but prefer to keep the discussion open in case anyone else has similar thoughts.
