Support for light version of the Raspbian and results information

Hello,

I found two questions, the first is about the use of gparted (where the letter G means it has a graphical window). In this case, if it is a requirement, then the script cannot be used for the light version without desktop graphics support?

Another thing is about the expected result after using the script, will it produce an *.img file in the folder where the script is, or in the folder where the command was executed, or is it possible to direct the output folder?

• yes, a graphical desktop is needed for gparted
• I did not try it out, but the *.img file should be found in the script folder and it is not possible to choose an output folder

Thanks, I read the referenced page, basically the user should use a computer and the SD card image already made, so that it can be edited. Regarding the graphical part, since gparted is accessible via command prompt like parted, wouldn't it be possible to automate the whole process?

It's not convenient from a users perspective to ask the user for any user interaction. Would be great to use your tool on a headless system with no user involvement. pishrink works this way - but is not maintained - unfortunately.

I maintain a backup tool called raspiBackup and also provide a script which compresses the created dd image with pishrink. Given there is no support of pishrink I look for a better compression tool and will update my script to use shrink instead of pishrink if it's able to run without any user interaction 😉
