serial port not showing up

i have an elm327 usb adapter and it shows up in dmesg, and i have added my user to the dialout group, but it doesnt show up in the software when i press refresh

i have used THREE different elm327 devices to no avail. what could i be doing wrong?

Hi. I'm assuming your ELM adapters are connected to a vehicles OBDII port, correct? Is your vehicle ignition on? If so and it is not working, try starting the vehicle. Furthermore, can you please list the operating system you are using, and vehicle brand.
