Description
Hi all,
I believe many of you have heard about the recent news that an AI painter won an art prize (see this news). This means that now you can visualize your abstract idea as a beautiful painting even though you are not good at drawing.
So, I would like to run an AI-based art competition (천하제일 AI 그림대회): What does X mean to you?
Instruction
- Pick a concept X which is any concept you have learned in this class, such as "semantics", "program synthesis", "invariant", "induction", "enumerative search", etc
- Select your favorite AI tool. Here are some examples (note that some tools may not give free credits depending on their policy):
- DALL-E
- Bing Image Creator
- Adobe Firefly (using KAIST Adobe cloud account)
- Or any suggestions are welcome
- Draw a picture that abstractly represents the concept. You will give a sentence that describes your picture.
- Submit your picture via this issue board. There will be an issue template called "Art competition".
- Upload your picture in the post
- Fill in the blank boxes: "For me, [the chosen concept] means [the sentence you used to generate the picture using AI]".
- Provide a brief description within 3 sentences.
Evaluation
- Each student can submit 3 pictures until Nov 30
- Evaluation will be mainly done by TAs and me. But the reaction from other students via Github issues will be considered a lot. The evaluation criteria are as follows:
- Aesthetic
- Creativity
- Relevance (to this course)
- Notice that the AI would not generate a good picture if you give a vague sentence. High-quality pictures will require a clear understanding and explanation of the concepts.
- The award ceremony will be held on Dec 8. Winners will be announced then.
- Gold medal (1 student): 1.5% bonus point
- Silver medal (2 students): 1% bonus point
- Bronze medal (N students, unlimited): 0.5% bonus point
Example
See the HOF page.
