Thanks! I do not think that library which I use for AST parsing support this language.
But I think we can try to make support such files as text files?

Can you explain your full flow, you want this shader files be searched and included to context like any other code, or you would rather ignore them?

Based on my analysis of the codebase, I can see why Apple Metal (.mm) files aren't being properly supported in Probe.

The issue is that Probe doesn't have specific handling for .mm files in its language detection system. When you try to extract code from a .mm file, Probe attempts to find a language implementation for that extension, and when it can't find one, it returns an "Unsupported file type: mm" error.

There are two possible approaches to address this:

1. Add proper support for Metal Shader files:

   • Add a tree-sitter grammar for Metal shaders
   • Implement a new language module in src/language/metal.rs
   • Register the .mm extension in the language factory

2. Add fallback text-based support:

   • Modify the language factory to handle .mm files as plain text
   • This would allow extraction without AST parsing but would still enable basic functionality

The second approach would be simpler to implement as an interim solution. It would involve updating the get_language_impl function in src/language/factory.rs to handle .mm files as a special case, returning a basic implementation that treats them as text files.

I'd recommend opening a PR that implements the text-based fallback approach first, with a note that proper AST-based support could be added later if there's sufficient demand.

I am just doing some iOS development and working with the Metal API to offload some tasks to the GPU. treating it as text is probably fine for now. just not markdown and returning nothing
