Current working directory

In which directory IPython sessions are started seems random.

One session it is the directory where the .qmd document is located that I am running a cell from, another session it is the root of the project dir. I have no handle on how to control this, not only that, it randomly changes between sessions.

Then, when rendering the document with quarto the current working dir is the directory where the document is located.

Not a problem in VSCode. why is this different in Positron?

Well, since it is empty, it would resolve to nothing and thus use the notebook's folder. Except it doesn't.

Now, I change the setting to

No, still running in the project folder

In every IDE I have ever worked in relative paths specified in a source file have always been relative to the location of that particular sourcefile. For a very good reason.
