Deployment to Posit Connect while use Streamlit secrets management

Is it possible to deploy a streamlit app using the streamlit secrets management (secrets.toml) with posit publisher VS Code Extension to a posit connect server?

Hi @EntwicklR - I wasn't sure if you were referring to using the secrets.toml file to manage your Posit Connect credentials (see @sagerb's comment), or if you just need to include the file in your deployment to Posit Connect.

If you need to include the secrets.toml as part of your deployment, go to the "Project Files" pane in the Publisher extension and check the secrets.toml file.

sorry if the question wasn't clear. I do not want to manage the posit connect credentials (@sagerb's comment), but instead want to deploy a secrets.toml to the connect server. But I'm running into an issue. Because the secrets.toml is outside of the project directory (~./streamlit/secrets.toml is next to ~/Project/.... which I am trying to deploy). For my understanding secrets.toml has to be in .streamlit in order to use secret management. Even if I copy the secrets.toml to the project folder and deploy it the app throws an error

I'm sorry, I found my mistake. It's not possible, to deploy using the global secrets file at ~/.streamlit/secrets.toml, but you have to use a per-project secrets file at $CWD/.streamlit/secrets.toml. Once I moved the file from the project directory to the the .streamlit subdirectory the deploymed app does not throw the error anymore. Thanks & cheers

Excellent! Another workaround I thought of is using a soft link from your project directory to your ~./streamlit/secrets.toml

ln -s ~./streamlit/secrets.toml ./streamlit/secrets.toml
