Feature description

App playing bookmarked playlist in Android Auto. This is difficult to add to bookmark a video When during driving. app can play what's new tab when driving or this feature can be selectable in menu.

@sidekick2809 : are you able to bookmark easily in Auto mode within the NewPipe app -- is their UI different to Tubular?

If yes: take a photo of each app running on your car display (either when you're stationary, or ask a passenger to do so) to show the difference. Though as Tubular is derived from NewPipe, I would not expect the Android Auto UI to differ

If no: you should close this ticket, and log a ticket with NewPipe instead. The team here only deal with the extra bits they add on top of NewPipe (the SponsorBlock and Restore YouTube Dislike options), or if something works in the latest NewPipe, but crashes only in Tubular. So if NewPipe also doesn't let you bookmark easily, they need to make the change first, then Tubular will inherit it

i can't see Whats new section (ID_FEED) on Android Auto screen. i can see only History and Bookmark menu. I have to add to bookmark on phone screen. NewPipe is working same.
I investigated code. There is no menu item on android auto page. So i forked from github and i added this menu. Now i can listen when i driving without add to bookmark.

@sidekick2809 : it's great you've suggested what needs changing, though whether this app is the one to suggest it for is unclear -- given you said that "NewPipe is working same", so it isn't an issue specific to Tubular.

@polymorphicshade : while NewPipe is undergoing their major code-refactoring and UI update, are you accepting requests here that are for things not specific to Tubular, or should this request still go to the NewPipe parent project?

1. Add a "Feed" category to the Android Auto main menu
2. Filter Feed content (excludes upcoming/coming soon content)

Notes

1. Feed Filtering: The includeFutureStreams=false parameter prevents upcoming (not yet released) content from being displayed. This is consistent behavior with the phone app.
2. Menu Structure: In Android Auto, the following menus are available:
   • Feed: Videos from subscriptions (filtered)
   • Bookmarks: Saved playlists
   • History: Watch history
3. Subscriptions: This menu was removed because loading channel content over the network was problematic. Feed already shows videos from subscriptions.

@sidekick2809 : hmm, the way your last comment is formatted smacks of how AI agents output answers. 🤔

I assume it is your own work, not output from an AI, given it literally says in the log template "The content of this request is not generated by AI" and in the AI policy it links to says:

• review the generated code completely

So assuming the code changes are ones you're suggesting yourself OR an AI has suggested them, but you're a coder and are sure they are correct, then the developer here might consider them. But don't be surprised if your ticket just gets closed otherwise...

I’ve already solved my own problem. To be honest, I don’t really care if the ticket gets closed. Adding Sponsorblock has taken the app to a whole new level. I just wanted to offer some feedback and point out that this is necessary for safe driving.
