Request for API Key

I am is currently working on a project focused on monitoring waterbodies across India using data from the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission. As part of our analysis, we are particularly interested in utilizing the Hydrocron API to access time-series data for lakes and rivers. The ability to retrieve SWOT observations in GeoJSON or CSV formats through your API would significantly streamline our data processing and enhance the efficiency of our research.

To move forward, we kindly request access to an API key for the Hydrocron service. This will enable us to query relevant waterbody features and support our efforts to study hydrological dynamics and their response to environmental changes.

Please let us know the steps required to obtain an API key, or if any additional information is needed from our side. We greatly appreciate your support and commend the innovative work being done to make SWOT data more accessible to the research community.

Hi @bhandariravi - Thanks for reaching out to request an API key. In order to create an API key, I will need some information on how you expect to interact with the Hydrocron API.

In order to create the key I need to know:

• How many requests you would like to make per month? (Including tests)
• How many concurrent requests you might make?
• How many requests do you expect to make per second?

Here are some example values that might help you figure things out:

• It generally takes ~15 million requests to cover all queries needed to cover the globe (SWORD reaches plus nodes).
• 2,000 requests per second is the default from general API usage
• 200 concurrent requests is the default from general API usage
