Custom Frontmatter not inserting

Hi - when I turn custom frontmatter off, my note is updated with the time stamps at the top as expected, but I then in turn experience the same problem as that noted in "Notifications interrupt typing #17". When enabling the custom Frontmatter as advised, no timestamps are added to new notes, however, notes that have the header already do have their updated_at field updated upon modification of the note.

Happy to provide additional info. I have tried disabling 5-10 plugins at a time to see if there is a conflict, but to no avail. Thanks
