Description
As someone just dipping their toes into Rain World level editing, the material previews are an essential tool. However, many materials do not have previews, especially the community-created materials that tend to have more esoteric names. I also found the 4x4 size in the preview to be really small, and it was hard to get a good sense of what the material looked like. So, I created my own set of 148 previews:
That was very time-consuming, and will require more work to maintain as new materials are made available.
These problems can be solved by adding a feature to Rained that automatically generates the material previews. Ideally, you'd be able to specify a level as the source, and then Rained would render that level with the default material set to each material needed. Then, when showing the level previews, it could do its own color replace (ideally using the pallet set in the View menu) when displaying the preview image.
Another feature to consider is allowing the user to specify different levels to render the material in, depending on the value of #bfTiles. While it's good to have the same level to compare different materials against, the materials with higher #bfTiles can be harder to read.
Then again, it's possible that better preview geometry would fix the issue.
