[Possible issue] Problems with detecting installed software

Environment

• OS: Devuan (based on Debian bookworm)
• Pinokio version: 2.15.1

Hello. I think I may have experience a possible issue with discovery of installed software.

For example, Gepetto requiea:

conda
git
zip
conda : nodejs,ffmpeg
cuda
py
cloudflared

from above list, he does not discover the installed on the systems programs like:

zip, nodejs,ffmpeg and cuda

Any idea how to fix it ?

I might be wrong but my understanding is that this program creates its own environment entirely separate from your system. So the first time you use it, it will install all required software even if you already have it on your system.
The reason for doing this is so that the pinokio scripts can change all the software settings and it won't affect the system version that you might be using for work.

Hello and first of, thanks for the answer 🙂

The problem in my case is that even if I have those already installed on the system, Pinokio seem to prefer throwing out an error of them missing, instead of installing those missing dependencies.

I thought I let you know about it, to try to find a good fix for this issue.

If I may propose a temporary walkaround for the issue (until a fix is done) in form of following:

If the dependenceie are already installed on the system, copy the dependenties into the created environment.

I think it should work 😉
