Display issue in search

This doesn't seem right. The cursor isn't reset to the "search for: " line and the search results aren't overwritten. Any idea how to fix this?

Bash 5.0.16(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) TERM=xterm-256color, Python 2.7.17, kali4-amd64 5.4.0 (Debian 5.4.19).

The issue seems to be the KDE terminal emulator "konsole" version 19.08.1. It works fine over SSH or using xfce4-terminal version 0.8.9.1.

Any ideas how to get it to work in konsole?
