What I am doing wrong? failes to install

I want to start to use pest

I follow https://pestphp.com/docs/installation. Under this step./vendor/bin/pest --init. I dont have this bin, but I have bin/pest and ./vendor/pestphp/pest/bin/pest. Both of these seem like aliases to phpunit.

--init don't work

bin/pest --init
   INFO  Unknown option "--init". Most similar options are --all, --help, --debug, --uses, --filter.

I wanted to check installed version

bin/pest --version
   INFO  .

And I want to check --help

bin/pest --help
   INFO  [33mUsage:[0m

  phpunit [options] <directory|file> ...

Configuration:

  --bootstrap <file>                   A PHP script that is included before the tests run
  -c|--configuration <file>            Read configuration from XML file

I we had setting in composer.json "config.bin-dir". When I removed the setting it put the bin in vendor/bin and suddenly it works.

So I ques this is actually a bug in pest/

 vendor/bin/pest --version

  Pest Testing Framework 4.3.1.

same here, but my location of bin files is ./vendor/bin/ still got

i never had an issue with PhpUnit suite.

My project root is /var/www/html/core.

php version?

maybe composer clear and remove ./vendor/ and try to install again?
