Serial instructions not being sent to the arduino

Hi,
I have downloaded the code and ran the poseidon_main.py code on VS CODE using Windows OS, Python 3.54. When I run the code, i get the GUI window but when I follow the instructions to send comands to Arduino, the motors do not turn. Is anyone else having the same issue/ has solved it ?
