Feature Request: Custom Online Raster Map Sources #1341
Description
Currently, satellite maps cannot be displayed, which would be a very helpful feature for travel planning.
It would be great if the full feature range of Online Raster Map Source of the mobile app could be implemented in Osmand Web at some point in the future, including synchronization of online map sources between app and web via Osmand Cloud.
As a first intermediate step (MVP), the following could be added to the “Configure Map” sidebar:
- New input field “Custom map source URL” (same input format as mobile app)
- New input field “Custom overlay source URL” (same input format as mobile app), which would allow an overlay e.g. of bicycle routes
- A checkbox could also be added to both input fields allowing to toggle between the custom and the standard map source
As long as cloud synchronization of custom map sources is not available for Osmand Web, the map and overlay source could be stored locally in browser storage.
This feature has been implemented very well in the following open source web application, which may serve as inspiration (press the layer icon in the upper right, then click on button "Custom layers"):

Missing satellite imagery is probably the most significant functional gap in Osmand Web compared to other web map services. Otherwise, the quality and scope of Osmand Web is already very impressive, thank you very much for the great work!
