Picocomputer - 2025 in Review

2025 focused on finishing core functionality and improving day-to-day usability. Major additions included an OPL2 audio driver for true retro sound, WiFi & Bluetooth LE, modem emulation, NTP time synchronization with time zone support, and expanded international keyboard handling - along with many smaller fixes and internal improvements. A very good year for the project.

There was so much good stuff we got this year. I think improved gamepad support was the breakthrough moment for me as it meant I could try making games without the need for either a specific or bespoke controller. Then things kinda clicked for me as I got used to VSCode combined combined with the very good documentation for the project. Looking forward to folding OPL2 audio into existing projects.

I hope 2026 brings lots of additional software and features, this is a really great project!
