CephFS is one of the best alternatives and a good choice if you want to scale. The Current storage system uses symlinks and highly optimized structures from the decomposedFS to work properly. This can also be mounted on a CephFS, it is just not "human readable". |

Is CephFS as storage - mounted as volume in docker - a viable alternative for system data or does it need to be a 100% POSIX conform storage like XFS, EXT4 or Ceph RBD? If not, is it save for system data at least because there is not DB except boltdb?
More over, in the current documentation posixfs is being said as default, the docker compose full has decomposed as default for STORAGE_SYSTEM_DRIVER
