Climate Data Management System (CDMS) appears to exclude important communities and does not align with the WMO Earth Systems Approach.
However, CDMS is a well-established and recognised term. There is the additional risk that changing the name could cause greater harm to the project (or not fully resolve the issue - e.g. simply adding a letter ‘H’ to the acronym to better represent hydrology)
Mitigation
COMMS-WG to consider options and report to PAT with recommendations by end of 2021.
