e-mail ingestion issues

Hi team, Pudo asked me to create this issue. May I kindly refer to my research at alephdata/aleph#3897 about why en when e-mail ingestion has some issues.

pst-format/libpst#14 also is of value: the "readpst" utility in Debian 12 and Ubuntu 24.04 misses a crucial fix for e-mails-in-e-mails.

Finally, please note alephdata/aleph#3895 with a bit of background. I haven't done that much with Aleph lately but my research is probably still valid.

i read through your threads and it's a very interesting problem that you found!

i'm trying to make a .pst inbox export that i can use to reproduce this issue as accurately as possible

can you share some steps to create emails in outlook that could reproduce the issues you describe in "e-mail messages with application/rtf body are imported as attachments, not message body"? does the issue you describe happen only when parsing the .pst file or also when parsing the individual email?

Unfortunately, I don't know how to make up a mail archive with rtf body texts. Seems to be an exchange or Outlook setting of the past. I haven't seen these sorts of mails in a while but there was a time when any outlook composed mail would be in rtf format. And I did get PST files full of these - but these were confidential ones.

I'm pretty sure though that an RTF message body will look like an attachment anywhere - not depending on PST or MSG. Keep in mind that the RTF part is the actual message body of the email.
