When playing the format Commander, each user must select a card from their deck to be a Commander. This commander must be placed in a special zone, the Command Zone. This requires adding a new zone to which cards can be sent and retrieved in a manner similar to how exile and graveyard functions.
Two versions of this feature could provide the desired functionality.
Minimal implementation
Adding a new zone that functions like Exile, with a label "Command Zone", cloning all the functionality that already exists. Users can then initiate their game by searching for their commander using the existing search tool, and select "Send to Command Zone". Likewise when the commander is destroyed, it can be sent from Graveyard to Command Zone.
Advanced implementation
The creator of the game selects the format "Commander" which sets life total to 40, and prompts each user to, upon joining, search for and select their Commander. On selecting a card as commander, it is then moved to the Command Zone, the deck is shuffled and the game then proceeds as in any other mode.
Lastly, just wanted to say I saw you mention this project on Reddit, and I thought it was really cool. I played around with Spelltable and Tabletop Simulator, and the former was a bit fiddly to set up, and the latter is powerful but clearly also built by a developer. ArcaneTable is super simple and easy, love that it's so quick to get started. Great work.
