Installation fails on Ubuntu 14.04 if git package is missing

The obvious solution is installing git. However, downloading the tarball from github might be a more firewall friendly way to fetch the repo.

ok, thanks for the hint. i'm going to add a dependency in puppetlabs/git which installs and manages git. with this module it's possible to configure a http proxy via git config.
i would like to keep the vcsrepo resource because it allows cloning of tags, so theoratically we are able to checkout a certain commit or tag if thats required.

one little warning: if you use the master branch of this repo, be aware that i'm going to merge the forge branch soon (within the next days). this is the code i would like to release to the puppetforge.

i'll keep this open until i've added the puppetlabs/git dependency.

Alright, thanks for the info. If git is present on the system installing the module works fine on Ubuntu 14.04
